Founded in 1997 with the name of Garbo Servizi S.r.l., Garbo S.r.l. immediately became a pioneer in the recovery of silicon carbide and polyethylene glycol, both of which are key products among abrasive mixtures for the cutting of silicon wafers used in the production of semiconductors or photovoltaic panels.
The first pilot plant for the abrasive mixture recovery was installed in 1999 at an important silicon wafer manufacturer site in Novara, Italy.
In November 2000, the idea that in 1997 had led to the foundation of Garbo Servizi Sr.l. was realized on an industrial scale. Garbo Servizi S.r.l. signed a joint-venture agreement with a German company leader in the design of machines for chemical treatments. In other words: SiC Processing GmbH was born. In a world that has to deal with the increasing risk of resource depletion, renewable raw materials play a primary role. The recovery technology of Garbo Servizi S.r.l. proved its success: its technology has been replicated in various locations around the world.

Due to different company strategies, the JV with the German partner was closed in 2006. But the game was still on. Garbo Servizi S.r.l. changed its clothes: while SiC Processing continued the traditional activity of abrasive and suspension recovery from slurries, Garbo S.r.l. was born. Since 2006 Garbo S.r.l. has continued and improved other highly innovative technologies development from the materials regeneration up to PET plastic materials recovery.
Garbo S.r.l. keeps on growing with the acquisition of PPT Abrasives, introducing among its materials also diamond powder.
Keeping one eye always open on the past, but the other fixed on the future, Garbo S.r.l. continues its search for original solutions in the identification of new technological processes that allow to provide the market with unique or distinctive products.
